   Wednesday, September 5, 2001 the County Commission by majority vote passed a controversial redistricting plan by a 7-2 vote with both African-American commissioners voting no. Chairwomen, Charlotte Vandergriff said, "I think the plan we have is legal."

   When basketball legend "Magic" Johnson arrived in Chattanooga on Thursday, September 6th to support his long time friend and fellow basketball great Venus Lacey of the WNBA and her foundation, it naturally caused a lot of interest groups of people that followed Johnson from room to room in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's arena.
