Governor Submits Bill to Bring VIWMA into the Executive Branch

In this year's State of the Territory Address, Gov. John deJongh Jr. laid out plans to restructure the Waste Management Authority and set it up as a new office within the central government, and before leaving the territory Tuesday, he submitted a bill to the Legislature to do just that.

The St. Croix Animal Welfare Center has reached a financial crisis, according to Stacia Boswell, executive director and veterinarian at the shelter.

Last Thursday, the Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) received a phone call from a resident in Estate La Grange reporting a very large snake crawling in the driveway.

 

Mosquitoes Out In Droves After Recent Rains

While the Virgin Islands was spared the flooding that hit parts of Florida when Tropical Storm Fay lingered, the storm's passage over the Virgin Islands as a tropical disturbance dumped plenty of rain. And many residents are now reaping what the storm sowed -- lots and lots of mosquitoes.
